The NOOR/PULSE exhibition presented at the Museum of Photography in Charleroi is an original idea developed by NOOR and the Museum. It is complemented by en- hanced content through the collaboration of Blinkl, a digital partner.

The NOOR/PULSE exhibition highlights four key components of the collective’s DNA:

  • pursuing long-term projects,
  • the issue of migration crises and conflicts,
  • political and climate change challenges.

Visitors follow a thematic pathway where they discover various series by 14 NOOR photographers. Individual and collective works are displayed side by side on the walls in a broad fresco of our recent history. The diversity of topics meshes with the international character of the members of the collective. Making full use of all the possibilities of the picture, the photographers have also been developing, for many years, a video language present in the exhibition too. An accessible “enhanced content” part, developed by the Blinkl company, intensifies the visitor’s experience. Through this technology, a selected series of NOOR’s unpublished sound, visual and textual archives is online and available to the public.

Some of the paths taken by NOOR involve contributing to an in-depth understanding of the underlying challenges of current news issues, keeping the living and the human as the focal point of questioning and speaking out in order to act against injustices. The exhibition proposes an overview of its photographic work, keeping mindful of one of the cardinal ideas written in its founding Manifesto: “some things simply need to be seen”, Stanley Greene.

The NOOR / PULSE exhibition was produced by Charlotte Doyen and Adeline Rossion (Musée de la Photographie) in close collaboration with Pierre Mohamed-Petit and Chloé Zanni from NOOR.
