Elle se fera caresse. Lucie Pastureau

‘The caress is, in turn, a hand stroking an animal’s fur, a dance, and an encounter with the skin of the other, a presence to oneself and to the body that grows or is transformed.
Lastly, the caress is photography and light itself, brushing against beings and capturing them.’

Lucie Pastureau

Faced with the difficulty of choosing between different series, Lucie Pastureau went over her pictures, starting from the ambivalent idea of fragility and strength. By turns tender and rough, the photographs tell a new story.

The photographer chose to uproot the images from their series, mix them up and observe their echoes and rhizomes, in an attempt to reveal the opacity and enigma of the image itself.

After studying communication at the Institut d’Arts Visuels d’Orléans, Lucie Pastureau went on to study photography at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. After graduating in 2008, she went on to co-create that same year, with Lionel Pralus and Hortense Vinet, the Faux collective, where she pursues her research into photography and text through various media, including video, installation and publishing. Particularly sensitive to family imagery and little things of the everyday life, she attempts to draw an intimate cartography of a territory, a group or an individual. That is why she is interested in transition periods that lead to an imbalance, a shift from one state to another. Adolescence, leaving the family cocoon, care centres: these are all subjects that inspire her. She uses photography to capture these small inner upheavals and sees the practice of photography as a form of research: sharpening words, manipulating images, ordering and classifying them, studying their narrative potential...

She alternates between artist residencies (Mission, ARTU, CLEA, creative residencies), exhibitions / projections during festivals, teaching (Institut pour la photographie, university, various workshops), press and corporate projects.

In 2012 Lucie Pastureau joined the Hans Lucas agency. She regularly works for the press in the north of France, collaborating mainly with the newspaper Le Monde. Lucie Pastureau has been a member of ADAGP since 2023.
